In the dynamic Philippine food industry, optimizing production lines to meet rising market demands and strict hygiene standards is key to business growth. This project centers on a new tomato paste production line for a Philippine food company. The company has long focused on fish product processing and decided to diversify its offerings by adding tomato paste production in 2022. WESDUN’s successful delivery and implementation of this project not only expanded the client’s business scope but also ensured full compliance with the global food industry’s strict hygiene and process requirements.
Project Overview
Project Name: New Production Line Project of Philippine Food Plant
Customer: A Philippine food company that mainly processes fish products and aims to expand into tomato paste production.
Project Objective: To build an efficient, hygienic new tomato paste production line. This requires sourcing high-quality, food-grade valves and pipe fittings that meet all strict food factory process and safety standards—ensuring smooth, safe, and compliant operations.

Customer Needs & Challenges
With years of experience in fish product processing, the Philippine client saw strong market potential in tomato paste. In 2022, they made the strategic decision to add a dedicated production line for this product. The biggest challenge was finding valves and pipe fittings that meet the food industry’s strict hygiene standards.
This is critical for tomato paste, as the product is highly prone to contamination if processing equipment fails to meet sanitary requirements. The client specifically needed large quantities of pipes, valves, and fittings made of SS316 stainless steel. SS316 is widely regarded as the industry standard for food processing equipment. It offers excellent corrosion resistance, is non-toxic, and complies with international food safety standards such as FDA 21 CFR and 3A. Additionally, the client needed products that are easy to clean and maintain to support regular Clean-in-Place (CIP) processes—essential for preventing bacterial growth, product contamination, and operational downtime.

Solution & Procured Products
To meet the client’s needs and address their challenges, WESDUN provided a comprehensive, customized set of sanitary valves and pipe fittings designed specifically for food processing. These included:
-
Sanitary ball valves and check valves (SS316 stainless steel): These valves have a crevice-free design and a mirror-polished surface (Ra ≤ 0.8μm). They effectively prevent product buildup and bacterial growth, while fully meeting global food hygiene standards.
-
Pipe fittings (elbows, tees): Made from SS316 stainless steel with precision surface polishing, these fittings have a smooth interior. This eliminates fluid retention, makes cleaning easier, and aligns with the sanitary design principles critical for food processing lines.
-
Tri-clamp sets: These sanitary connectors allow for quick, secure installation and easy disassembly. This is a key feature for food production lines that require frequent CIP cycles, as it streamlines maintenance and reduces operational interruptions.
-
Additional products: Brass valves and safety valves to complement the system. These ensure complete flow control and maximum operational safety throughout the production process.
All products adopted a quick-connector installation method to speed up production line setup. The surface polishing treatment also enhanced both hygiene and corrosion resistance—important for withstanding the acidic nature of tomato paste and the frequent use of chemical cleaning agents.

Project Implementation Timeline
WESDUN strictly followed the client’s timeline to ensure the new tomato paste production line was launched on schedule. Key milestones included:
-
April 2022: WESDUN received the client’s Proforma Invoice (PI), which formally confirmed the order, product specifications, and quality requirements.
-
Early May 2022: All ordered products were manufactured, thoroughly inspected for quality, and delivered to the client’s facility. They fully met the agreed-upon hygiene and performance standards.
-
August 2022: The new tomato paste production line was successfully installed. WESDUN’s technical team provided on-site support to ensure all valves and pipe fittings were properly fitted, functional, and aligned.

Project Outcome & Customer Feedback
Since the production line’s installation, the procured valves and pipe fittings have operated stably and reliably. The SS316 material and sanitary design effectively eliminated the risk of product contamination, ensuring the tomato paste meets the highest global food safety standards. Additionally, the quick-connector installation simplified maintenance and cleaning, reducing downtime and significantly improving production efficiency.
The Philippine client was highly satisfied with the project. They noted that the products fully met their food factory’s process requirements and played a key role in the smooth operation of the new production line. This successful collaboration between WESDUN and the client helped the client expand their product range, tap into new market opportunities, and lay a solid foundation for long-term growth and competitiveness in the Philippine food industry.
