Project Delivery Overview
In January 2021, WESDUN shipped a batch of high-quality bypass gate valves to South Africa. These professional pipeline valves support a local hydropower station project and mainly serve large-scale water transmission pipeline systems. This successful delivery shows WESDUN’s steady development in Africa’s new energy and hydraulic engineering sectors, and builds long-term trust with local industrial customers.

Why Bypass Gate Valves Fit Hydropower Water Pipeline Systems
Bypass gate valves are the ideal choice for medium and large water transmission pipelines in hydropower projects. Standard large-diameter gate valves have obvious drawbacks under high pressure differences. They require strong operating force during opening, easily wear sealing surfaces, and cause water hammer impact that damages the whole pipeline system.
WESDUN bypass gate valves perfectly solve these common problems. The built-in bypass structure balances pressure on both sides of the main valve before operation. It effectively lowers operating torque, makes valve opening and closing much smoother, and prevents water hammer and pipeline vibration. This key design protects the entire water transmission system and extends the service life of valves and pipeline accessories.

Product Features for Long-Distance Water Transmission
All valves for this South African hydropower project feature a full-bore flow design. The straight flow channel reduces flow resistance and maintains stable water delivery, which fully meets the long-term continuous water supply demands of hydropower stations. We adopt high-strength ductile iron for the valve body and add premium anti-corrosion epoxy coating. The valves resist water erosion, oxidation and harsh outdoor weather, and adapt well to complex working conditions at African hydropower sites.
These bypass gate valves deliver reliable tight sealing under rated working pressure. They maintain zero leakage in closed status and support frequent open-close cycles. They fully meet the strict safety and stability standards for hydropower water pipeline systems.
Strict Pre-Shipment Quality Control
WESDUN keeps strict full-process quality control for all export engineering valves. Before shipment, this batch of bypass gate valves passed complete professional tests, including hydrostatic pressure testing, sealing performance testing, pressure balance function testing and anti-corrosion appearance inspection. All products comply with international industrial standards and local hydropower project specifications, and ensure safe, stable and long-term on-site operation.

The bypass gate valve has been packaged and is ready to be shipped to South Africa.
WESDUN’s Layout in African Hydropower Market
Hydropower is a core clean energy sector in South Africa and across the African continent. Ongoing local infrastructure development creates growing demand for high-standard water pipeline valves. This 2021 project delivery strongly validates the stable performance and high applicability of WESDUN bypass gate valves in hydraulic engineering applications.
To date, WESDUN has supplied a wide range of industrial valves for water conservancy, hydropower, municipal water supply and pipeline engineering projects in multiple African countries. In the future, WESDUN will keep focusing on engineering-customized valve solutions. We will provide more stable and cost-effective flow control products for global hydraulic and clean energy projects, and deepen our cooperation in the African market.
