WESDUN DN800 butterfly valve strengthens South Africa’s energy security.
During a critical phase of Africa’s energy infrastructure upgrade, WESDUN, leveraging its professional fluid control solutions, successfully provided core equipment for a large South African power plant’s water supply system.
We provided DN800 butterfly valves for the power plant’s water supply system, ensuring reliable quality and safeguarding the plant’s water supply. This “lifeline” of energy production places stringent demands on the valve’s pressure resistance, sealing, and fatigue resistance.
The DN800 butterfly valve, custom-designed for this project by WESDUN, utilizes a ductile iron body and a 316 stainless steel disc. It withstands pressures up to 1.6 MPa and is suitable for the complex high-temperature, high-flow conditions of the power plant. Its eccentric seal design ensures zero leakage, preventing water waste and system pressure loss due to valve leakage. Equipped with an electric actuator, it supports remote intelligent control, enabling the power plant’s operation and maintenance team to adjust flow in real time and reducing manual inspection costs.
During the project’s implementation, the WESDUN team provided comprehensive support. Initially, they conducted on-site surveys of water quality, pipeline layout, and operating parameters at the power plant, optimizing valve structural details. In the mid-term, they rigorously controlled production processes, conducting over 10 hydraulic and fatigue tests to ensure each device met specifications. Finally, they provided on-site installation guidance and operations training to ensure the valves were quickly integrated into the existing water supply system.
After the valve was put into use in the project, it effectively improved the water supply efficiency of the South African power station and helped it stabilize energy output during the dry season, which was highly praised by customers.
